Eligibility for Mature Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition

PLAR is available to mature students who entered an Ontario Secondary School after 1999, or would like to graduate under the current Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) requirements.

Are you:

  • At least 18 years old on or after January 01 of the current school year?
  • Enrolled in a secondary school credit program for the purpose of obtaining your OSSD?
  • NEW to the Ontario secondary school system, as of February 1, 2004   AND  working towards an OSSD?
  • New to the province or new to the country?

An eligible student may earn up to 26 equivalent credits using PLAR for Mature Students. The final four credits must be earned. Students can obtain these credits through any combination of our day school credit programming or the Teacher Assisted Self Study (TASS) Program. Eligible students must complete the literacy requirement and community service hours
